Vijay Karia’s Ravin Group bags Rs 50 crore order to supply specialized fire survival cables to the longest tunnel of over 9 km length in the Katra Dharam section, nearest to world’s highest rail bridge – Chenab Bridge

Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project is a National Project to provide rail connectivity from rest of the country to Kashmir

Mumbai, 6th October, 2021: Ravin Group announced recently that they will be supplying specialized fire survival cables for the prestigious Indian Railways’ Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link which had been declared as a National Project in 2020. Ravin has been chosen as the preferred partner for the expertise, technical prowess, product knowledge and the experience of the company.

Ravin will be providing 33 kV and 11 kV Medium Voltage specialised fire survival cables along with Low voltage cables and control cables to the longest tunnel (T13) which has an approximate length of 9.3 km, located in the Katra-Dharam section which is nearest to the world’s highest Chenab bridge.

Project Cost: Rs 19,565 crore (The entire 326-km long rail project). The estimated order value for cables to Ravin Group is around Rs 50 crore.

The entire project will be 272 km in length from Udhampur to Baramulla, joining the beautiful valley of Kashmir with the rest of India. Project comprises of 38 Tunnels and 927 Bridges. There will be 17 tunnels aggregating a length of 46.1 kms, out of which Tunnel No.13 is the longest. It comprises of 86% of route in tunnels, 9% of route on bridges and balance 5% of route in cuttings and embankments. Konkan Railway had made 164km of roads including road tunnels and many temporary Bailey bridges.

According to the Railway Ministry, the budget of the USBRL Project for the year 2021-22 is Rs 4200 crore. Declared as a National Project in 2020, it is expected to be completed in April 2023.
